I like music.

Just had to get this off my chest today....

I often hear people in conversations speaking about how much they enjoy all sorts of music. I guess that's fair. It's possible, but, I'm quite sure, very unlikely. Do you really like everything? Really? You sir, in the black jeans, white tee, beret and purple scarf! Do you enjoy the musical intricacies of Biz Markie or The Fat Boys?

I like many kinds of music. I'm not telling a lie. However, I don't like all kinds of music. I appreciate the talent of a "death metal" drummer, but I don't like "death metal". So sue me. I gave it a shot, and didn't like it. If we're playing with most modern rock styles, give me some Nightwish or Sonata Arctica, and I'm down.

Okay, now that I've pushed that aside, the real point I want to get to is the eternal question thrown around in almost every music-based conversation - "What is real music?"

Here's my answer- Who cares? No, really. If it's something someone appreciates and loves as music, than it is music. Someone may disagree and call the musical styles of Pastor Troy blasphemous to the term "music". Guess what, that's a pile of crap. I'm truly disheartened that people can have such vicious arguments about what is and is not music, to the point that friendships can be torn apart. Let's grow up, shall we. I don't appreciate Death Metal, but I'm not going to tell anyone it's not music. Why? Because it is music.

End game on this - My name is Bijoy, I like a lot of genres and styles of music, but I don't like them all. That is all.

    And yes, it's all music. Just some of it is not to my taste. Like Death metal. You may be my soul mate after all.

Portage Blackened Snapper

This simple, classic fish entrée is a St. Louis take on a cajun classic. The easy preparation in hand with the satisfying product is great. Well, I guess the most appropriate of beginnings to my blog would be a recipe. I cook, and often get paid to do so. It's a pretty nice gig. So, from the cookbook that I've been meaning to get around to for about six years, I give you the recipe for Mama Love's Sunday Oysters - A good friend of mine had a habit for touting his mother’s oyster bake as the finest in the world. Being obviously very skeptical, I decided to investigate this claim when his mother so very graciously invited me to Sunday Dinner at her St. Louis home.
