Mr. Bijoy's 2018 Gift Guide, Part 1

Just like every year, here's the deal:
Some people (I'm sure you know at least one) are difficult when it comes to gifting. So to make it easy on you, I find random, nifty things that I think would make cool gifts and I share them with you. Buy one for yourself, buy one for a friend, buy one for a lover, buy none. I don't get any money from sharing these with you, I just think these things are cool and unique. Sound good?


Ok, so:
  • My wife got me this a few years ago and it is one my favorite additions to my library. It makes it MY library.  
  • Cotton Candy, FO DAYZZZZZ. Yep, that's it. 
  • Elevate your kitchen towels, or elevate a friend's kitchen towels.
  • Florence Welch, a magical singer, published a gorgeous book of poetry and lyrics this year and I bet you know a music lover that would like to have it.  
  • If you know anyone that fancies themselves a mixologist, but needs some help, check this out. 
  • Have a music lover in your life that loves band posters? These posters are probably the coolest and you should get them one.  
  • Do you love someone enough to step up their hot cocoa game?  
  • Do you know someone that loves pizza? I do. And I'm getting them this masterpiece.
  • One of my first hilarious memories with a friend is when he laughed hysterically at screaming goat videos. This is for him, and that person in your life. 
  • From a fine wonton soup to that packet of ramen, this bowl will make it all look fancy af. 
  • For that karaoke lover in your life. Hopefully, you don't live with them.
  • If you're shopping for anyone and you don't know what they might want, they want this. If they don't they better have a good reason. In case you're wondering, I want this.
  • For all of us alcoholic book lovers, there's something just for us.  
  • Have a fan of high design in your life? This spoon rest is bonkers-sexy. 
  • Do you have a friend or loved one that just moved? These candles capture the essence of a place and drop those memories in your house. That's good shit.
  • Have a book lover in your life that loves cozy socks? Here you go.  
  • Do you know someone that loves the New Yorker cartoons? Do you love them? Here's a book of them.
  • Because being safe and sexy is a move. 
  • Everyone should have a Squatty Potty. Everyone.
  • Jessica Hopper wrote a book about the music biz, and you should check it out. 
  • For the person in your life that loves corgis. We all know one.

Just because you may be on some restricted diet, doesn't mean that you're no longer entitled to good food and happy thoughts during this Thanksgiving season! So, here's a recipe that's not only gluten-free, but also vegan. You may have seen this recipe somewhere before. Portage Blackened Snapper

This simple, classic fish entrée is a St. Louis take on a cajun classic. The easy preparation in hand with the satisfying product is great. Ingredients: 4 eight ounce red snapper filets 5 tablespoons of melted butter 1/2 tablespoon hungarian paprika 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon cayenne, or hot red, pepper 1/2 teaspoon thyme 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper 1/4 teaspoon oregano Ok, so: Thoroughly mix everything but the red snapper and butter in a small bowl and set aside. Heat a very large skillet over medium-low heat. Brush the red snapper filets with melted butter until evenly coated, then add another light coating of the seasoning prepared earlier. Place the filets on the skillet, skin-side down. Drizzle some more melted butter over the fish and cook for four to five minutes. Flip the filets and cook for another two minutes. Steak Rub, for fun and things

  I often am asked what my favorite methods are for some simple things. Honestly, for a lot of things, I have more than one way of doing them, and I just choose the method I find best suited for the time and audience. So, in light of all this, here is one of my favorite steak rubs. If you don't put a rub on your steak or do anything to it, out side of seasoning it a little bit, I have nothing bad to say to you. That's how I generally like my steak. However, sometimes, I feel the need to step it up a bit. This recipe is just that- a step up. This recipe yields much more than you'll need for one steak, so don't overdo it.
