20 Random Things


So lately, I've seen people doing this "20 things about me" stuff on twitter. So instead of giving people 20 more tweets that you likely won't read, I'll write a blog post you won't read! And yes, I'm sure I'll get some judgement from some of these. Here we gooo!!!!!
  1. When I was younger I wanted to grow up to be an Olympic swimmer. But I'd be a nice person. I hear Michael Phelps isn't very nice. That's not cool.
  2. I'm told that, for a guy, I have a lot of shoes.
  3. Cookies are awesome. If you disagree, you're wrong.Also applies for Cookie Monster.
  4. I'm an Eagle Scout.
  5. I HATE doing dishes. Really ask anyone who knows me.
  6. When referring to Kool-Aid, I only accept the color of the Kool-Aid as a reference to the flavor. Also, red Kool-Aid is my favorite.
  7. I'm kind of a geek when it comes to history.
  8. I got bored once and studied behavioral science in human interaction for fun. Yes, for fun.
  9. Elephants are my favorite animal. I have no idea why.
  10. I want a snuggie.
  11. I once performed "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"... in front of a lot of people.... in my first cowboy hat.
  12. One day, I hope that Anderson Cooper will be my friend. We will have brunches.
  13. The same applies for David Copperfield, but we'd likely do dinner.
  14. I can sew, and I'm not that bad.But I don't really like to sew.
  15. I want a pen pal.
  16. Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in Charade is one of my favorite movies of all time.
  17. A physicist, chef, and a photographer walk into a bar. I call that Tuesday.
  18. I never saw "The Little Mermaid" in its entirety until my sophomore year of undergrad. My mother thought that it would corrupt me. Don't ask, I don't know why.
  19. My 25th birthday party was sponsored by Bacardi. Seriously.
  20. One day, I will write a book about something awesome. Don't know when or what about, but it will happen.

So, here's a recipe that's not only gluten-free, but also vegan. You may have seen this recipe somewhere before. Portage Blackened Snapper

This simple, classic fish entrée is a St. Louis take on a cajun classic. The easy preparation in hand with the satisfying product is great. Ingredients: 4 eight ounce red snapper filets 5 tablespoons of melted butter 1/2 tablespoon hungarian paprika 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon cayenne, or hot red, pepper 1/2 teaspoon thyme 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper 1/4 teaspoon oregano Ok, so: Thoroughly mix everything but the red snapper and butter in a small bowl and set aside. Heat a very large skillet over medium-low heat. Brush the red snapper filets with melted butter until evenly coated, then add another light coating of the seasoning prepared earlier. Well, I guess the most appropriate of beginnings to my blog would be a recipe. I cook, and often get paid to do so. It's a pretty nice gig. So, from the cookbook that I've been meaning to get around to for about six years, I give you the recipe for Mama Love's Sunday Oysters - A good friend of mine had a habit for touting his mother’s oyster bake as the finest in the world. Being obviously very skeptical, I decided to investigate this claim when his mother so very graciously invited me to Sunday Dinner at her St. Louis home. As soon as I took my first bite, I had to know what went in to making this incredible dish! When she told me how easy it was, I staggered in astonishment.
